Now we're going to have a real Nebraskan play a kid from Nebraska. This morning, my producer called me from LA to tell me Chris Klein is interested in playing the role of Casey and that he's going to meet with him on Friday. In the script, Casey is described as a lanky Caucasian man in his 20's with all-American look. Come to think of it, I just described Klein.
Most people remember him as the good-hearted jock in "American Pie." He's since starred in "We Were Soldiers," "Rollerball" and "Say It Isn't So." He had hits and misses but most importantly, he'd be perfect in our movie. To have him star alongside Ryan Phillippe, Jared Harris and Jeffrey Wright... That's a dream cast for any filmmaker.
