I'm enjoying my time in Singapore. And it's the night before the principal photography. Max must be sleeping by now. In fact, I'm sure everybody in the production should be in bed. Today, "Dance of the Dragon" held a press conference sponsored by Singapore Tourism Bureau. It was a small one but very lively. Many languages were spoken there true to the nature of this film. I told the director that he's got a good looking cast. Indeed he does. My participation in the project certainly made me miss making my own movie. I know it'll come soon. Meanwhile, I'm really proud to be part of the team and happy I contributed. I have a feeling it's going to be a very good film. Can't wait to see the final product. BTW, Singapore isn't what I thought it would be. I'm enjoying its racially and culturally diverse aspect. I also enjoy its nightlife. It seems to have a lot to offer. Sadly, I have to leave Wednesday. But I'll be back. Probably in 2 weeks. Oh, I need to say I chewed gum two nights ago. Perfect crime. :)
A week away from the production in Singapore. The movie is called DANCE OF THE DRAGON and it stars the Korean star Jang Hyuk of "Windstruck", Jason Scott Lee of "Dragon" and Fann Wong of "Shanghai Knights." It's an unusual project in the sense that it truly has an international cast.
I got involved because Arclight Films (which handles international sales and distribution) introduced me to the project. Arclight is the company that wants to get involved in EXPATS. Anyhow, originally it was going to be about a Chinese young man but reading it, I suggested the lead be Korean. It's such a universal story that I thought it would work. The talented director/writer Max Mannix was open to my idea and we went ahead and cast Jang Hyuk, who turns out to be a gift. We know he'd make an excellent ballroom dancer. Yes, that's right. He'll play a ballroom dancer from Korea.
Anyhow, I'm flying over to Singapore this week and this should be exciting. Even though I'm not directing, it's also nerve-wrecking for me.
It will, I'm sure, inspire me for my own movie. :)
Gosh! When was the last time I updated this blog? Must've been ages ago.My excuse? I was busy. I was actually busy with a film which goes into production in Singapore at the end of the month. No, it's not something I'll be directing but I'm an executive producer on it.I helped cast a Korean star whose name will be announced next week when there'll be a press conference. But somehow some local papers in Singapore have already caught him arriving at the airport and written about him being in the film. Amazing!Next week, I'll be going to Singapore. I've never been there so I'm totally excited.
